| Aamir Ranbir Katrina spotted dining together |
Bollywood superstars Aamir Khan with wife Kiran Rao, Katrina Kaif, Ranbir Kapoor, Sidharth Malhotra and Karan Johar were snapped having a private dinner together at Olive restaurant, Bandra on Tuesday. Screenwriter and filmmaker Melanie Easton luckily spotted the team and tweeted a picture with Ranbir and Aamir saying, "So This Just Happened, Both, Aamir, Ranbir, Kat, Kiran Rao, and Karan Johar were all there together. With a big group of other people I don't know."
Wonder what was topic of discussion? This was after Kiran Rao's screening of Ship of Theseus with Karan Johar and many others celebrities. | | Bollywood Hungama News Network | | Check out Sonam Dhanush as Zoya and Kundan |
Sonam Kapoor and southern sensation Dhanush are all set for the release of their film Raanjhanaa which is just two days away. Though the duo is busy with the promotions of the film, Sonam recently posted a pic of them while in Chennai.
Tweeting while promoting the film in Chennai, Sonam posted, "Zoya and kundan in raanjhanaa". In the image while Dhanush is dressed in typical attire with the white mundu complete with the gold border, Sonam sports a red sari.
Directed by Aanand L. Rai, Raanjhanaa also features Abhay Deol and is slated for release this Friday. | | Bollywood Hungama News Network | | Errol and Meherzan excited about Shortcut Romeo | align="right"/>Shortcut Romeo which releases this Friday will not only be special for the lead pair of Neil Nitin Mukesh and Ameesha Patel but also for co-actors, Errol Peter Marks and Meherzan Mazda as this will be their second film together. The duo was first seen together in Y-Films Luv Ka The End, where they became thick friends and have remained so ever since.
Though Meherzan was earlier seen in YRF's first television show called Seven as one of the leads, lately he has been the face for Gillette, Fair and Handsome, Reliance etc. On the other hand, Errol owes his film career to ad films of which he has done many. It was thanks to an ad commercial that director Susi Ganesh decided to cast him in Shortcut Romeo.
However, the interesting part is that despite the film being a challenging yet fun experience for the two of them, with the Masai Mara known as one of the most unfriendly place in the world to shoot a film, the duo made the most of it. This was also a time where they bonded big time with Neil. "Neil is an excellent costar and a terrific actor", says Meherzan.
After Shortcut Romeo, Meherzan has signed a couple films which will go on floor soon while Errol Marks will be seen in Rum Pum Poshsh alongside Prateik Babbar and Karan Kundra. | | Bollywood Hungama News Network | | To meet Hrithik at home I have to make an appointment - Rakesh Roshan | align="right"/>Rakesh Roshan talks about his life and films...
You are 60-plus, but have skin that glows. How do you manage it?
I must thank my friend Jeetendra for it. He is 70 and in the best shape. He is such a disciplinarian. For the last eight years, he has not touched a drop of alcohol. Of late, he has turned vegetarian also. And the best part is, he will not touch carbohydrates. All of us in the group try our level best to emulate Jeetu, but we can't match his willpower. Yet, exercising and eating right has become a way of life for me too.
But you have the best gymnasium possible in your own home and a son who is a fitness guru, right?
Yes, Hrithik is very conscious about his physique. I go to the gym at least five times a week. Actually, if you come to my gym, you can meet my entire family - wife Pinky, daughter Sunaina, granddaughter Suranika, daughter-in-law Sussanne, grandsons Hrehaan and Hridhaan, and of course, Hrithik. The gym opens at 8.30 am and goes on till noon because everyone has different timings.
Talking of friendships, Jeetendra, Rishi Kapoor and you were bum chums. But your sons - Hrithik, Tusshar and Ranbir - are not so friendlyâ¦
I don't think they have the time. Today's actors are very serious about their commitments. We were not that serious back in our day. Though they do only one film at a time, they are doing several endorsements. They are also fitness conscious and spend a couple of hours in the gym. Their involvement with their career is so deep; they do not get time to meet each other. Why ask about his friends? Though Hrithik and I stay in the same house, to meet him at home, I have to make an appointment! I have to tell him I'm going to meet you day after tomorrow at eight o' clock. Keep yourself free. And I do this because, otherwise, someone or the other is always there. During our days, Chintu and I would start drinking as soon as pack-up was announced. We were not bothered about our physique. We never went to the gymnasium then.
align="right"/>Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor and several other senior actors have flourishing careers in front of the camera. Why haven't we seen you step into those father roles?
I don't wish to deviate. I truly believe one should do what one is good at. I'm a filmmaker and I should only experiment with filmmaking. I don't want to be an exhibitor, distributor or start making television software. I don't want my mind to be diverted. Most actors have made the mistake of starting their production houses when they are at their peak. Producing films takes its toll on your face. Filmmaking is about upsets and success. Most of the time, it is upsets. When an actor's production faces some hassle, the stress shows on his face. So imagine, if he is shooting on some set and he gets a call saying, the film he is producing has an issue, it does affect him. I believe actors should do at least four films at a time when the going is good and venture into other aspects later, when they can concentrate on it. God has given an actor a face and physique, which he must use in front of the camera, at least in his youth.
Are you saying you will never wear pancake again?
One must never say never. However, I'm not tempted to act anymore.
You are not on any social networking site, nor are you a party animal...
I admire people with boundless energy like Amitabh Bachchan and Karan Johar. They are very active on social networking platforms. They work so hard - be it in films or television, they are there for social causes; they are just amazing. I have not even gone beyond texting people. If I have to reply to too many text messages, I get tired.
Where does all your time go?
Right now, I'm only breathing Krrish 3. It is one of the most extravagant and difficult films being made in India. There are a lot of special effects involved. And I am looking into everything, from merchandising to supervising the visual effects etc. We have given the VFX work to Shah Rukh Khan's company and the entire project will take 18 months to complete with a budget running into several crores. SRK's VFX studio is one of the finest in the country. Three hundred technicians are working on the effects.
After directing Hrithik, is it difficult for you to work with other actors?
Hrithik is a perfectionist. For him, 110 % is 100 %. For me, 90% is 100%. He sees everything minutely. After every shot, I look at him to find out if he is okay with it. He assisted me for five years and knows everything from screenplay to direction and editing. We understand each other well. So, when I am directing him, I know exactly how he will perform and accordingly, I place the camera. Hrithik is one of the finer actors we have. Having said that, I am equally charged about directing other actors. For example, Vivek Oberoi is the villain in my film and he showed the same level of discipline and passion as my son. Also, if there is a two-hero project, I'm game for it. | | Bollywood Hungama News Network | | Malaika Arora Khan sizzles on MW cover |
Malaika Arora Khan is only getting hotter with time. The diva yet again manages to stun us with her hot picture on the cover on MW. The hottie heats it all up in her drop-dead-gorgeous monochrome imprinted swimsuit with blue stoned gold earrings and gold cuff as the accessories. Whereas her red lip, smoky eyes and wet pulled down hair combination simply makes us drool.
The body-hugging swimsuit accentuates her hour glass figure! Apart from acting, this yummy mummy recently has even started her own shopping website called 'The Closet Label' which gives a taste of her style choices. | | Bollywood Hungama News Network | | Check out Katrina Kaif on cover of Verve |
Bollywood damsel Katrina Kaif can't help but sizzle as the latest cover girl of Verve. While the June edition of the fashion magazine lists the 50 Influential Women in India, it's Kaif who poses for the cover.
Styled by Nirali Mehta, in a Rajesh Pratap Singh shift dress in metallic shades and shot by photographer Atul Kasbekar, Katrina is the perfect image of power, poise, glamour and panache. If the shoot with Atul wasn't enough, the magazine also features Kat in candid conversation about her life, and Salman Khan. "In my entire life - all the years I've been in this universe - without a shadow of doubt, Salman Khan has been the person who has definitely had the greatest influence on me," she says.
Further, the leggy lass talks about her styling saying, "It's my job to look presentable and nice but that does not mean I have to make a fashion statement every time I step out of the house." | | Bollywood Hungama News Network | | SRK Deepika Rohit survive on biscuits for a week | align="right"/> Leave aside celebrities, even a regular guy next door is expected to indulge in decent food at least, especially during outdoors when even basic amenities come at a premium. However, it was a huge crew of over 200 people, including cast members Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone along with director Rohit Shetty, who practically lived on biscuits for a major part of the day during the shoot of Chennai Express.
"This was during an elaborate schedule at Dudhsagar, Goa," informs a unit member, "There was a major train sequence that had to be filmed on location and we had to be there at six in the morning every day to shoot that. Since this involved a train that passed through a bridge on a scheduled hour, we had to work on very tight timelines."
On the first such morning, the crew realized that it wasn't just waking up early in the morning which would prove to be their ultimate nightmare.
"There was lunch prepared for us but we realized that by the time we were ready for it, it was rotten," recollects the unit member, "Our cook told us that since he had to prepare food for 200 people, and he had to begin preparations at two in the night. When it was finally time for lunch ten hours later, it didn't remain fresh at all."
After the first day disappointment, the matter was discussed with Shah Rukh since the shoot was expected to last for a week and a permanent solution had to be sought. This is when it was decided that entire crew would have to survive on biscuits.
"Shah Rukh led from the front and we procured tons of biscuit packs which belonged to varied variety. Everyone skipped their regular day meals for almost a week and there were no complaints whatsoever," confirms Rohit Shetty, "Everyone understood that there was no other way out. It was all being done for the love of the film. And yes, our cook was the happiest since he was the only one who managed to get some extra hours of sleep." | | Joginder Tuteja | | Madhuri glides through intimate scenes with Naseer | align="right"/> For those who saw Abhishek Choubey's Ishqiya three years ago, the film's raw sexual energy between Vidya Balan and Arshad Warsi still remains vivid.
The news on the much-anticipated sequel Dedh Ishqiya is that Huma Qureshi who replaces Vidya Balan as Arshad Warsi's co-star, goes "much further" with Arshad in Dedh Ishqiya. According to a source close to the project, Huma and Arshad "have pulled out all stops" making Arshad's love-making scenes in Ishqiya look like "a teaser trailer, and foreplay before the actual act."
That's not all. Madhuri Dixit who makes a comeback in Dedh Ishqiya has also done some intimate scenes with her co-star Naseeruddin Shah, and done them without inhibitions.
Says the director Abhishek Choubey, "We shot their intimate romantic moments at the very beginning of the shooting. They've come out very beautifully. But let me state Madhuri's character is very different from Vidya's in Ishqiya. Madhuri plays a Beghum who lives in a palace in Lucknow. Since this is again Ishqiya, we once again explore the various aspects of love and romance. What we discover in the relationship between Madhuriji and Naseer Saab is very different from the earlier relationship between Vidya and Arshad. While Vidya's intimate scenes were earthy and raw, Madhuriji's amorous moments with Naseer Saab are approached with a lot of dignity. Madhuriji understood what was required. Once she accepted the scenes, she gave all of herself to them. However there are more intimate scenes between Huma and Arshad than between Madhuriji and Naseerji. Let me tell you, it's not easy to shoot intimate scenes with our actors. They have to trust in the director's vision. As the director I had to make sure I didn't let Madhuriji and the other actors down."
Director Abhishek Choubey can't get over the experience of working with Madhuri. "It was an honour to work with somebody of her caliber. Bahot hi mazedaar raha experience with her. Getting Madhuriji was the best thing that could've happened to the film. I feel she has all the emotions within her. It's really up to the filmmaker to pull out the emotions he wants in her character and she gives a pitch-perfect performance."
Abhishek lets out that the script was actually written to accommodate Madhuri's personality and skills. "What's the point of having her in a film if there's no dancing? We wove her dancing skills into the script. You see, when we decided Madhuri would play Beghum Para, we wrote the character according to Madhuri's personality. We incorporated the dancing."
Shooting a semi-classical dance number 'Jaagi Saari Raina' with Madhuri choreographed by the Kathak legend Birju Maharaj was the most enriching experiencing for Abhishek.
Abhishek wanted the number to be like Waheeda Rehman's 'Piya Tose Naina Lagi Re' in Guide.
align="right"/> Says the awestruck director, "I wanted Birju Maharaj-ji and Madhuriji to recreate what choreographer Hiralal and Waheedaji magic in Guide. We shot in a beautiful palace in Lucknow. I became this wide-eyed boy watching the two stalwarts at work. Birju Maharaj didn't just come and choreograph Madhuri. He heard the narration of the entire script from me and then decided how he would shoot the song. He spent a week for the song recording with composer Vishal Bhardwaj and singer Rekha Bhardwaj. He also gave his inputs for the song composition. The number spells out a profound sense of nostalgia for a lost love."
Choubey says he has created two kinds of world and languages in Dedh Ishqiya. "One is the world of Naseer Saab and Arshad's characters being carried over from the first film. The other is the genteel aristocratic world of Madhuri that we introduce in this film. There is shaayari and mushaaira. But there's also Arshad's cruder expressions."
Huma Qureshi plays Madhuri's friend and confidante in Dedh Ishqiya.
Says the director, "Huma was very excited about working with Madhuri. She plays Madhuri's kaneez (woman-Friday). Her scenes with Madhuri are very special. I was in a dilemma about the casting of this role since Kangna Ranaut opted out. I was uncertain about what would happen. I knew Huma from earlier when she worked in Ek Thi Daayan where I was a co-producer. So we are friends. Ultimately Huma turned out to be the right choice and I haven't stopped congratulating myself for choosing her. In many ways Huma's is the most complex character in Dedh Ishqiya."
Naseer has confessed he is Madhuri's fan. And Abhishek Choubey tells us the actor was in a exceptionally good mood. "Naseer Saab plays a very romantic character and he was very pleased to be romancing Madhuri."
Speaking on the eve of the last 9 days of shooting director Abhishek Choubey said, "I've been shooting Dedh Ishqiya since March. We had a long schedule in Lucknow. Now only the climax remains to be shot."
The film is expected to release in January 2014. Ishqiya too had been released in January. "There are too many big films towards the end of this year. So we're safer early next year," explains Choubey.
Next, Abhishek Choubey would direct an urbane story. "For some strange reason I am seen as small-town boy who understands the culture of semi-rural India better than the cities when the fact is I've spent more time in the cities. So my next film would be urbane." | | Subhash K. Jha | | Bollywood Toons SRKs Surrogate photo |
